About the role
We’re seeking a Technical Director to join our Land Development team, based in either our Christchurch or Auckland office.
You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of some of HG’s biggest projects from concept to completion.
We are set for a busy 2026 with an exciting forward workload of large-scale projects including greenfield and brownfield residential developments, infrastructure, commercial and industrial developments.
Key responsibilities:
Provide technicaladvice, opinion and leadership to guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure successful delivery of complex projects from initial concept design through to construction completion.
Oversee and review technical outputs and deliverables to ensure they meet quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout all project phases.
Maintain existing client relationships and drive business development initiatives such as leveraging your existing network and identifying opportunities to enhance HG’s future project prospects.
Support professional development within our team of Civil Engineers and Designers through mentorship and guidance in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Work alongside the National Land Development Manager in the implementation of the national strategic business plan including growth strategy, business development, marketing strategies and budget targets.
Be a recognised urban development leader internally and externally, stay up to date with industry changes or amendments and relay these changes across the business.
About you
We’re looking for individuals with a background in either land development or civil infrastructure, who bring strong technical leadership and expertise to support the successful delivery of projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
CPeng status.
20+ years of New Zealand‑based Land Development or Civil Infrastructure experience including civil engineering design and consenting, as well as the administration of civil construction contracts.
Strong client relationship management and project management skills.
The flexibility to travel within NZ as required.
Strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen and the ability to articulate a clear vision through planning and execution.
Successful track record managing large commercial projects and teams.
