Occupation: Chef Location: Invercargill, South Island Employment type: Full time (guaranteed minimum 30 hours & Maximum 40 hours per week) Our pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour A M J Venture Trading as Main Street Café & restaurant is an established, well-loved Café & restaurant operating in Invercargill. We have been in operation for several years and have been favoured by our loyal customers who praise that our food is one of the best in the hospitality sector. We are looking for 5 full-time permanent Chefs expected to work as a chef, planning and organising the kitchen activities, preparing and cooking of food meals in café & restaurant. This role requires traveling to our three different restaurants in Invercargill to cover their allocated shifts. You will deliver a high-quality menu and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. Skills and experience needed: ·       A relevant Diploma level 5 or an equivalent qualification, OR any major bachelor’s degree ·       At least 1 year of working experience in Hospitality OR front house. Job Duties: ·       Planning menu items, participating in the organisation of ordering, cost controlling and wastage of food ·       Preparing and cooking foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions ·       Checking and monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met ·       Determining how food should be presented, and creating decorative food displays ·       Demonstrating new cooking techniques and equipment to staff ·       Estimating amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients ·       Implementing and following strict rules of personal hygiene and ensure machinery is operated, cleaned and stored correctly; kitchen drawers and shelves are cleaned and tidy ·       Complying with all Company Policies and legal requirements with special reference to Health and Safety to ensure all procedures: Health and Safety, and Food Safety Management are maintained to the required standards ·       Participating in selecting and training new/current kitchen staff whenever it is required Sound like you.
