Job Description The Academic Dean leads learning and teaching quality and innovation at SAE Auckland, including teaching capability, programme design, academic governance and teaching delivery.
Reporting to the Campus Director, the Academic Dean is actively engaged in strategic leadership across the institution.
They work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and the Data and Compliance Officer to ensure that SAE qualifications are delivered to the highest quality and in a manner that is compliant with institutional and regulatory requirements.
As a people leader, the successful candidate will lead and manage the academic team, promoting teaching excellence through mentorship and capability development to deliver high-quality teaching through a learner-centred and inclusive pedagogy.
The role will also lead the development of new educational programmes, as well as the review and improvement of existing courses, to ensure that SAE NZ is a national leader in creative industries education.
The Academic Dean ensures that the student learning experience at SAE NZ is engaging, inclusive and equips graduates with future focused skills and capabilities.
Qualifications The person we seek will ideally have the following: Hold at least a Masters, and ideally a Ph D, in a creative media discipline such as audio, music, songwriting or screen production or in education Have some industry experience within a creative media discipline and enjoy strong networks and a positive reputation within the industry Hold a thorough understanding of the New Zealand tertiary environment, including all agencies and stakeholders that form the sector Have particular knowledge of NZQA regulations as they pertain to PTEs operating within the tertiary education sector Have exceptional leadership skills and staff management experience Offer leadership about the latest developments and perspectives on education and in particular have some experience of project-based learning Have experience in programme development and design Have an understanding of how Te Tiriti o Waitangi impacts on tertiary teaching and learning Have an understanding of research by creative practice and be able to supervise undergraduate research Be able to contribute to the teaching on campus, and in particular within the Bachelor of Audio Production, Bachelor of Music Production, Bachelor of Songwriting and/or Bachelor of Screen Production Additional Information At SAE, our employee perks and benefits include: Access to global career opportunities across the Navitas portfolio Work in Parnell village, just a short walk from Auckland's CBDFree car-parking space on site Genuine flexibility with hybrid working arrangements Two paid volunteer days per year for your passionate causes Health & well-being packages including free counselling and well-being specialist support for employees and family members Access to Linked In Learning and professional development opportunities Diversity Equity and Inclusion: SAE as part of Navitas, promotes and embraces an inclusive and diverse workforce.
