Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Developer to join our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting specifications, technical designs, and flow charts to build, maintain, and modify the code for software applications.
This role involves constructing technical specifications from a business functional model, including cyber security considerations, and ensuring robust testing and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Code Development: Interpret specifications, technical designs, and flow charts to build, maintain, and modify the code for database applications.
Technical Specifications: Construct detailed technical specifications, incorporating cyber security measures, from business functional models.
Database Design and Architecture: Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient database structures.
Create entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) to model data structures and relationships.
Develop database schemas, tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and other database objects.
Data Integration: Design and implement data integration solutions to ensure seamless data flow between systems.
Utilize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it according to business rules, and load it into target databases.
Ensure data consistency and integrity during data migration and integration processes.
Database Security: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
Develop and enforce data security policies and procedures to comply with industry standards and regulations.
Monitor database activities to detect and respond to security breaches or suspicious activities.
Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize database performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions such as indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.
Monitor database performance using profiling tools and techniques to ensure optimal performance.
Conduct regular performance reviews and make necessary adjustments to maintain high performance levels.
Testing: Conduct thorough testing to identify and fix bugs, optimize performance, and ensure the reliability of database applications.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and integrity.
Perform regular backups and conduct recovery drills to test the effectiveness of backup plans.
Ensure that database systems can be restored to a consistent state in case of failures or disasters.
Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts to streamline routine database tasks such as backups, maintenance, and monitoring.
Utilize scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or Bash to automate database processes and improve efficiency.
Implement automated alerts and notifications to proactively address potential issues.
Documentation: Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support the development, maintenance, and deployment of database solutions.
Data Analytics and Reporting: Collaborate with data analysts and business intelligence teams to provide data insights and support reporting needs.
Design and implement data marts, data warehouses, and other reporting structures to support business analytics.
Optimize data retrieval and reporting processes to enhance the overall performance of data analytics systems.
Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective database solutions.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. 

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Developer or in a similar role.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, My SQL).
Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and development.
Experience with database programming languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).
Knowledge of cyber security principles and best practices related to database management.
Familiarity with data modeling and database design principles.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of database systems.
