General Manager New Zealand Government Procurement

Government procurement spend is ~17% of GDP and has a huge impact on the New Zealand economy.
The Chief Executive of MBIE is responsible, as the Procurement System Leader, for leading and co‑ordinating government procurement best practice and supporting the Minister for Economic Development to drive the Government's strategic objectives for procurement.
As the General Manager, New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP), you will lead New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP) Branch.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive Regional Development & Commercial Services (RDCS), you will be responsible for providing cross-government leadership and capability to achieve effective and efficient results from Government's procurement activities.
In particular, the General Manager NZGP will deliver the All-of-Government procurement programme, provide policy advice on Government Procurement and maintain technical capabilities to respond to emerging procurement and all-of-government contract opportunities.
The role will be focused on building and enhancing the overall capability of the Government Procurement Branch to ensure quality and consistency of advice and practices in relation to Government priorities and procurement activities.
Regional Development & Commercial Services is responsible for delivering government investment into New Zealand's regions to build their economies, grow businesses, and strengthen communities.
It plays a role in the administration of over $4.5 billion in funding across a wide variety of Regional Development funds.
This group has supported many regional projects across New Zealand through various government funding initiatives.
Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required An ability to operate effectively as a Public Sector General Manager, leading a large branch and delivering a significant work programme Ability to quickly establish and build strong internal and external working relationships including with Ministers and senior officials Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work through complex political situations with high ambiguity and under pressure Significant experience working in government with an excellent understanding of government processes and operating environments Demonstrated ability to lead complex programmes over a range of specialist areas considering both strategic and operational needs Extensive experience providing high quality policy advice across a range of specialist areas Knowledge of cross-government procurement and contract management frameworks is an advantage Understanding of the key influences on the NZ economy and business environment Have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand either hold or be suitable to attain an appropriate national security clearanceĒtahi kōrero mō MBIE - About MBIE: MBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
