Carpet layer Work Location: Auckland Employment type: Full time (minimum 30 hours/per week, Monday to Saturday), Permanent role Our pay: $29.00-$35.00 per hour depending on skills and experience. We are a floor company and our work sites are mainly based in Auckland. Cross-region work may be involved. We are now looking for 2 carpet layers to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company. Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The position is responsible for the following: Measure and prepare rooms for the installation of carpet. Select, cut, install and repair carpet for offices, homes, and buildings. Tasks you may carry out: ·       Measure rooms and draw up specifications and estimate quantities for carpet covering. ·       Prepare carpet surfaces for coverings, removing and disposing of old carpet. ·       Lay out samples for selection, roll out, measure, mark, and cut off excess carpet and frays ·       Position the carpet, stretch it to fit, and cut off excess carpet and frays. ·       Join carpet sections together for large rooms ·       Glue or staple carpet to the carpet, finish edges with wall trimmer ·       Utilize carpet-laying tools such as carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pile cutters, heat irons, and power stretchers ·       Correct imperfections in finished carpet. ·       Rip of soiled sections of carpet and replace with new swatch. To be successful you will need to: ·       Ideal candidates should have at least 2 years’ relevant work experience in the same field or industry, or ·       Have a relevant NZ level 4 qualification or equivalent qualifications/certificates ·       Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions ·       Be physically fit and willingness to work hard ·       Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically and effectively ·       Have "can-do" attitude Our goal is to inspire people more than managing them.
