Ara Whiwhi Mahi - The opportunity This role is critical to advancing the use of applied compliance insights and behaviour change principles at Inland Revenue.
As the Domain Principal, you will lead the guidance and advisory of design and delivery of intervention solutions.
You'll use your expertise and capabilities to ensure the systems which IR operates are effective, efficient and manage risks.
You will unlock opportunities for better customer outcomes and help build the intervention insights and design capability across the organisation by helping others 'learn by doing'.
In this varied role you will:identify emerging trends and provide thought leadership to support the development of innovative customer solutionsact as an escalation point to resolve complex issues, manage risk, ensure the integrity of advice provided and support capability upliftuse your specialist expertise to coach and mentor others to grow their capability to achieve better customer outcomeslead projects or service development initiatives within the intervention design space and work as part of networked teams to deliver improved customer and business outcomesbe part of a small but dynamic leadership team.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to evidence your:ability to deliver complex work programmes, with evidence of strong project and stakeholder management capabilitystrong commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori and whakaaro Māoriadvanced interpersonal skills including the ability to influence using persuasion and mana, able to articulate views that challenge assumptions, the status quo and customer truthsexperience in using informal leadership to lead networked teams to deliver their work commitmentscomfort and ability to craft a narrative using storytelling approachesexperience leading, piloting, iterating, and testing the feasibility of interventions Ability to monitor, evaluate and report on the outcomes of deployed interventions (with appropriate business partners).

IR has the capability to significantly enhance the compliance of customers interacting with the tax system and social policies that we administer.
Customer Strategy and Innovation (CSI) provides an 'end to end' focus on applying innovation into our compliance approach and combines insights from systems, products, and customer segments.
The CSI group drives an across-segment compliance strategy enabled by insights, innovation, and specialised understanding of operational (START) capability.
This includes:driving and planning the intelligence-led compliance approachmanaging START analytics and optimisation.facilitating and supporting intervention design We have invested heavily in developing our compliance operating model, and we have the frameworks and tools in place to drive innovation in compliance.
As the centre of excellence for compliance, the CSI group establishes partnerships and networks across the organisation ensuring that the right people are involved, and the right compliance priorities are delivered.
