Senior Project Manager, System Performance and Innovation at Ministry of Health, Wellington Permanent | Full time | Wellington based Hybrid working environment | 4.4 weeks annual leave Salary midpoint of $140,938 actual salary dependent on your experience Te Aho o Te Kahu, the Cancer Control Agency, provides national leadership for and oversight of cancer control.
Te Aho o Te Kahu takes a whole-of-system focus on preventing and managing cancer and oversees system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in New Zealand.
It is accountable for ensuring transparency of progress towards the goals and outcomes in the National Cancer Action Plan.
Te Aho o Te Kahu is equity-led, knowledge-driven, person/whānau-centred and outcomes focused.
The System Performance and Innovation team (SPI) is tasked with measuring cancer system performance and working with partners to address inequities and/or variation in cancer service access, treatment and outcomes.
Ko tōu ake mahi – What you'll do You'll play a pivotal role in providing top-tier advice, influencing decision-making processes across the team and the broader Agency.
Your ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders is crucial, and prior experience in the health sector, particularly within cancer, is highly valued.
Proven programme management experience, clear understanding of the health sector and machinery of government, and the ability to communicate effectively between a range of stakeholders with differing professional backgrounds will be necessary.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu – What you'll bring to the role An understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and Te Tiriti o Waitangi Relevant professional project management qualification (i.e.
PRINCE2) and at least five years of experience in formal project management roles in the public and/or private sector Extensive experience in the development and application of a variety of project and programme management frameworks, and an ability to promote and provide advice on the use of appropriate techniques, methodologies and tools Experience in the health sector and understanding of Machinery of Government is required Confident in application of a variety of appropriate project and programme management frameworks, and an ability to promote and provide advice on the use of appropriate techniques, methodologies and tools Strong people leadership and management skills and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver quality outcomes Proven ability to lead/manage/deliver multiple projects across workstreams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Excellent organisational skills, with strong attention to detail Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster stakeholder relationships across all levels Strong budgeting, monitoring and reporting skills.
