Barista

Don Luciano is a vibrant café in Wairarapa known for its house-roasted Gracias coffee and commitment to gratitude and kindness. We seek an experienced Barista to deliver excellent customer service, prepare quality coffee, maintain cleanliness and safety, manage stock, and collaborate with the team. Applicants need 1 year experience or a relevant qualification, flexibility to work weekends, and a clean record. Ideal candidates are passionate, reliable, adaptable, and strong communicators with excellent time management. Don Luciano is a vibrant, innovative café with loyal following in the Wairarapa and further afield. We roast our own coffee, with beans sourced from Central America, under the brand Gracias. The café is named after my grandfather and the coffee brand reflects our echoes of gratitude and kindness. We are seeking a Barista to provide great customer service and effective food service that reflects and upholds the values and philosophy of Don Luciano. Drink Preparation • Prepare a variety of coffee and espresso drinks using established recipes and techniques. • Follow all beverage recipes and standards to ensure the consistency. • Operate the machine safely and efficiently. Cleanliness, Stock Management and Safety • Maintain a tidy and organize work and dining area, ensuring cleanliness and presentability at all times. • Clean and sanitize all equipment and surfaces in accordance with health and safety regulations. • Restock product and supply areas as needed. Customer Service • Greet customers warmly as they arrive and bid them farewell as they leave. • Engage with guests, answer questions about the menu and make recommendations. • Receive and process payments (cash or credit cards). • Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Team Collaboration • Work closely with team members to ensure smooth operations and outstanding service. • Support fellow team members during busy periods or shift changes. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE At least 1 year work experience or Certificate or higher in tourism/hospitality/relevant industry. Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays. Clean criminal record and the ability to pass the drug test.
