Job Summary: Mex Holding Limited is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of construction and development processes.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of our construction projects, ensuring projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Cost Management:

Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Monitor and manage project costs to ensure budgets are adhered to.
Conduct cost analysis and perform cost control activities.

Contract Management:

Prepare and manage contracts with contractors and suppliers.
Ensure all contract requirements are met and documented.
Negotiate contract terms and conditions to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Tendering and Procurement:

Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.
Analyze tenders and procure materials and services at competitive prices.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Valuation and Reporting:

Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and measure works completed.
Prepare and submit valuations and final accounts.
Provide detailed reports on project financial performance and forecasts.

Risk Management:

Identify potential financial or contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with clients and provide regular updates on project status.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.


Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Professional Membership:

Must be a member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS).

Experience:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.

Skills:

Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
