About the role

We have a permanent position for an exceptional, forward thinking senior nurse who is flexible, resilient and can manage a busy workload. We are advertising this role for a qualified Nurse Practitioner or an experienced nurse ready to train as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (NP intern).

This role will incorporate advanced knowledge and skills and practise both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals.

In this role you will:

  • provide a wide range of assessments and treatments interventions, including differential diagnoses, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests
  • administer therapies for the management of health needs for tamariki
  • work in partnership with individuals, families, whānau and communities across a wide range of settings.
  • demonstrate leadership as part of the CED senior nursing team

The Starship Children's Emergency Department is the only dedicated Emergency Department in New Zealand designed to focus exclusively on the needs of children. We specialise in meeting the needs of acutely ill or injured children and young people ranging from birth to 15 years of age and we see approximately 40,000 children and young people per year.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
  • have obtained an approved clinical Master's degree
  • have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Children's Emergency
  • have a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
