A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR IDL) aims to be the global leader in tropical infectious diseases through scientific excellence in research and innovation to enhance human health and respond to future pandemics.

A*STAR IDL is seeking a Research Officer to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. We are seeking a motivated and fast learner to participate in projects for the development of interventions for treating and preventing infections caused by antimicrobial resistant pathogens.

Job Description:

  1. Design and conduct experiments including data collection and analysis.

  2. Perform meticulous recordkeeping and draft reports and presentations to collaborators.

  3. Oversee daily laboratory activities and help manage the lab's routine admin duties.

  4. Help new students and postdocs settle into the lab, transfer techniques to them, and participate in their research.

  5. Ensure safe technical practices and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, Immunology, or related field.

  2. At least 6 months of prior wet lab experience, and relevant experience in molecular biology and in cell culture.

  3. General lab skills in molecular biology.

  4. Highly motivated and able to work independently and multitask.

  5. Team player with good interpersonal skills.

  6. Good spoken and written communication skills.

  7. A strong desire to constantly learn and acquire new skills.
