This Wellington CBD-based government organization is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (6-month hourly rate contract) with a near immediate start.

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be supporting this government organization through year-end, liaising with auditors and preparing year-end accounts.

Our client is looking for a proven financial leader with a strong technical ability, to ensure they meet their statutory financial reporting responsibilities while going through a period of change.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Undertake financial reporting ensuring that treasury requirements are met, compliance with policies, practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
  2. Prepare consolidated financial statements for the group in preparation for audit.
  3. Oversee the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with auditors.
  4. Lead statutory financial reporting process, ensuring responsibilities are met.
  5. Support the maintenance of an effective financial reporting regime to ensure internal and external stakeholders are provided with timely, accurate, relevant and effective financial information and insights.
Key Requirements

  1. CA Qualification or Equivalent.
  2. 5+ years relevant experience in a large government organization.
  3. Experience leading finance teams through year-end and audit.
