Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines.

We are keen to grow our reach in three regions (Whakatāne, Te Waipounamu, and Te Tai Tokerau, Tāmaki Makaurau - OR willing to consider other locations) in order to promote and market Adult Community Education and Te Pouhono programmes delivered at marae and/or other locations within communities or nationally.

As a Kairuruku, your primary responsibility will be to establish relationships with whanau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations, communities, business and corporate stakeholders, support Marae Coordinators and Mahi Aroha Kaiako with programme design & delivery advice, training, and where required assist with the delivery of programmes.

Applicants must have the ability and willingness to travel away from home to undertake the duties required in this role.

Our successful applicant will also have:

  1. Certificate in Adult Teaching
  2. A management diploma or equivalent relevant experience
  3. Adult teaching experience
  4. Previous experience developing and delivering training programmes with whanau, hapū, iwi on marae and/or experience providing academic advice and/or academic leadership
  5. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of te reo, āhuatanga and tikanga Māori and their application in kaupapa Māori settings
  6. Evidence of strong marae, hapū and iwi networks
  7. Previous experience in a management role
  8. Experienced coordinator with strong administration experience
  9. Experience using databases
  10. Report writing experience
  11. A full clean driver's licence
  12. Intermediate to advanced Te Reo Māori capability and proven ability to use Microsoft Office suite
