Assistant Accountant

Due to an internal secondment within the wider Group Finance and Commercial team, we have an opening for an experienced Assistant Accountant to step into a busy role, on a fixed term basis.
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this fixed term full-time position will be responsible for the day-to-day processing of the financial information as well as being a champion for developing our people's financial capability and skills across the Group.
Integrating best practice, and robust governance into everyday financial tasks and activities, you will actively contribute to ensuring the highest standard of ethics, integrity and values are upheld across all aspects of the Group Finance function.
No day is the same, so be prepared to juggle multiple tasks and collaborate with a variety of people. As a doer, no job will be too small or big and you will be comfortable working both autonomously and in a team.
Key Accountabilities:- Responsible for ensuring relevant financial functions are maintained and discharged accurately and in a timely manner in the system and reported to the business for effective decision making.
- Assist with preparing info for IRD returns.
- Assist with production of month-end, interim and annual financial accounts for the Moana Group.
- Assistance with preparation of monthly management accounts for group function and different specie groups.
- Preparation of weekly and monthly journal entries including GL and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register for different specie groups.
- Continuous improvement; processes, systems and delivery of financial training and induction modules to managers.
- Ensuring internal systems, controls procedures and policies are adhered to and operating as required.

This team values communication and collaboration and you will foster these skills too and be happy to jump in and support the finance team, with the ability to be adaptable and prioritise your workload effectively.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- Degree qualified in Commerce, Business or Finance.
- 3-5 years accounting and finance experience, preferably in multi-site FMCG and/or manufacturing environments.
- High levels of energy and drive to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
- Proactive relationship builder, with strong commercial acumen.
- Effective communicator, planner, and trouble-shooter.
- High level of accuracy, efficiency, and strong attention to detail.
- A team player, flexible, and willing to provide a helping hand when needed.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, and experience with data-driven ERP systems.
