We are seeking a trusted, experienced People (PX) Advisor to join our dynamic PX team at Sime Motors primarily based in Mount Wellington, Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of your portfolio while partnering closely with managers across the Commercial Aftersales portfolio. You will be responsible for implementing people initiatives, and providing support and guidance on a wide variety of matters and the delivery of key projects.

About the Role

In addition to managing employment relations, reporting findings, providing training, and overseeing internal job movements; the PX Advisor will also be responsible for

  • supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
  • managing employee records
  • ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies
  • assisting with performance management and employee development programs
  • addressing employee concerns or grievances
  • dealing with medical incapacity and pay queries
  • ability to deal with conduct issues, absence management, medical incapacity, performance and behavioural challenges.

You will need to be comfortable working across different legal entities with different business models, and you'll report into a global corporate structure with all the complexities that brings. The role requires an adaptable, resilient, confident individual who is solutions-focused and capable of acting with integrity, confidentiality, and commercial insight.

While this busy role reports directly into and is supported by a Business Partner, you will be expected to work autonomously and take full ownership of your designated portfolio. As such you will need a good level of full end-to-end ER exposure.

Required Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' PX experience in New Zealand, preferably in a generalist advisory role.
  • Prior experience of 2-3 years in an HR coordinator role is essential to ensure a strong foundation for the advisor responsibilities.
  • Exposure to HRIS systems, preferably Workday.
  • You must be committed to maintaining confidentiality and acting with high levels of ethics, integrity and professionalism in this values-based organisation.
  • You'll be adaptable, resilient & solution-oriented, able to demonstrate confidence and a proactive, solutions-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Exceptional written English is essential and experience in drafting letters related to disciplinary processes.
  • Critical thinking skills coupled with good commercial acumen to understand the commercial implications of PX decisions.
  • An ability to travel within New Zealand.
  • A team player with a great sense of humour
