About the Role
Christchurch Hospital Nursing Support Team has an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to take this next step in their career.
You will support the Charge Nurse Manager (CNM) with managing a large team of permanent and casual Healthcare Assistants and Nurses.
You will assist with important processes in this service by supporting the CNM with recruitment, orientation, coordinating education, performance reviews, service development and staff retention.
About the Service
The Nursing Support Team provides cover to all clinical areas, including medical, surgical, paediatrics, women's health and emergency care at Christchurch Hospital.
About You
This is an exciting position, working with the CNM to grow and support an important service for the campus. We're looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in acute medical/surgical nursing and who has an interest in developing their leadership and management skills.
Strategic thinking, problem solving, and excellent interpersonal skills are vital as you will interact with a wide range of people both within the team and the Department of Nursing; and across the campus.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to engage people at all levels.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
- Initiative, solution-focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks.
- Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
- You will either hold or be working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Proven clinical expertise within acute nursing.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
