About the Role

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team at Waikato Hospital as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist. This position offers an outstanding career opportunity in a progressive environment focused on patient care, research, and education.

About the Team/Service/Location

Health NZ, Waikato offers a comprehensive range of Radiation Oncology services. Our department operates on the Eclipse planning system and boasts four linear accelerators capable of delivering state-of-the-art radiation treatments, including rotational IMRT and cone beam CT image guidance. We utilize cutting-edge technology such as TrueBeam, HyperArc and Halcyon for radiation procedures.

At Waikato Hospital, you will work alongside eight medical oncologists, nine haematologists, ten radiation oncologists, and five palliative care physicians. As a Regional Cancer Centre, we serve a regional population of approximately 750,000 people. Radiation therapy is delivered at Waikato Hospital and outpatient clinics in Hamilton, as well as three secondary hospitals (Thames Hospital, Rotorua Hospital, and Gisborne Hospital).

About You

  • The candidate must have qualifications that would satisfy the requirements for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and must have a driver license.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
