About the Role
Applications are invited from Specialist Anaesthetists to join our team as we undergo service expansion to meet rising demand. We are looking for enthusiastic Anaesthetists with a commitment to a team-based approach in anaesthesia and surgery. The position is based in Hamilton.
- Contribute actively and positively towards excellence in teamwork, clinical care, teaching and research
- Provide comprehensive Anaesthesia services, including acute pain and perioperative services to elective and emergency patients within both Waikato and Thames Hospitals
- Participate in an on-call roster
- Model a high degree of professionalism in day-to-day work

About Hamilton
Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. As a major teaching hospital with affiliations to the University of Auckland, University of Waikato, and Wintec, it offers a dynamic learning environment and access to research opportunities. About you
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (preferred) or equivalent. Applications will be considered from candidates who are expecting to be awarded their fellowship in the near future.
- Eligible for Vocational Registration as a Specialist Anaesthetist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Demonstrate recent clinical experience in Anaesthesia comparable to contemporary Australasian practice.
- Competence in providing Anaesthetic services for healthy children > 24 months.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate an ability to work effectively and constructively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
