Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager-Design Build Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team and lead complex transportation projects while playing an important role in expanding and shaping the group. We are looking for someone with a blend of project management skills, technical expertise, and innovative thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Senior Project Manager for clients, managing detailed phases of engineering design work of moderate to significant size and complexity.
  • Manage large multi-disciplinary highway design projects.
  • Successfully manage alternative delivery projects (Design-Build, PPP, etc.).
  • Develop and manage client relationships.
  • Provide technical and professional development of staff.
  • Monitor project financial performance.
  • Serve as project executive for major projects.
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss/navigate transportation design/permitting challenges.
  • Develop scopes and amendments associated with transportation design projects.
  • Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners.
  • Develop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions.
  • Assist with the production and delivery of transportation projects through the construction administration phase.
  • Pre-design project planning and financial management.
  • Develop technical design and specification documents.

  • Substantial client management, technical, and project management experience.
  • Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in highway engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of state regulations governing transportation design.
  • Software: MicroStation Open Roads Designer, Civil3D a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 15+ years of experience in professional transportation engineering.
  • Project management experience delivering Design-Build projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
