The Opportunity

Responsibilities

We are looking for a results-driven General Manager to lead the new Mitre 10 Wellington Central store. This on-site role offers a competitive salary, includes a bonus profit share option for the right person, along with generous staff discounts. You will be reporting to the Managing Director and be responsible for:

  1. Driving strategy and performance - developing and executing business strategies that align with our vision and values.
  2. Leading a high-performing team - inspiring and mentoring a team to deliver exceptional customer service and sales results.
  3. Ensuring operational excellence - overseeing merchandising, inventory, HR, health & safety, financials, and store administration.

What You'll Bring

  1. Retail leadership - you will have 5+ years senior retail management experience in a big-box or large-format environment. Experience in home improvement would be of benefit.
  2. Business acumen - a track record of exceeding sales and profit targets while optimising store operations.
  3. People leadership - proven ability to engage, develop and inspire a diverse team to create a positive workplace culture.
  4. Operations expertise - strong knowledge of merchandising, stock integrity, sales forecasting, and compliance with NZ Employment and Health & Safety laws.
  5. Customer focus - passion for enhancing the customer experience and building long-term relationships.
