About The Role

Our market leading Corporate practice is looking for a graduate to join us as a Law Clerk in Wellington in January 2026. Our Corporate practice helps large companies with any legal issues relating to the day-to-day operations of their business, or if they need legal advice on large-scale transactions. We work in "sub-teams": mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, and general corporate advisory. Our clients include New Zealand's largest corporate, often listed companies. During large transactions, we work a lot alongside other professional services such as accounting and investment banks.

As a junior in the Corporate team, examples of the work you may get involved in include:

  • drafting and reviewing sale and purchase agreements
  • IPO offer documents
  • takeover documents
  • board resolutions
  • statutory compliance docs
  • due diligence (reviewing legal material) for the sale/purchase of different businesses.

On the advisory side, juniors deal directly with clients (and opposing lawyers) to negotiate business-as-usual contracts – which is awesome exposure In more transactional teams, you'll be working with other team members (both in corporate and other teams like tax, property or resource management) and working closely with Partners.

Being involved and contributing right from the start is great for learning and development, paired with a strong support network and buddy system. As the successful graduate in our team, you will be given the room to take initiative and showcase your skills, while having a close-knit team to back you up.
