My client has a national presence in the accounting market and is seeking a highly skilled and experienced BAS Assistant/Manager to help lead their dynamic finance team in Christchurch.

As a Manager at the firm, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic insights to drive the company's continued growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  2. Conduct monthly and quarterly financial closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in line with GAAP principles.
  3. Oversee the general ledger and maintain accurate and detailed accounts.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and tax filings, working closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
  5. Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  6. Provide financial analysis and insights to support key business decisions, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and improve overall efficiency.
  8. Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Must be in New Zealand or have the right to work in New Zealand due to border restrictions.
  3. Your CA/CPA qualification is preferred but not required.
  4. Proven experience as an Assistant/Manager or in a similar role.
  5. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
  6. Strong proficiency in financial analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting techniques.
  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
