We're seeking a humble, hungry, and smart MSK physiotherapist to join our Queenstown clinic.
In this full-time role, you will provide exceptional patient care and outcomes via a range of services and innovative health pathways. If you have a solid background in MSK physiotherapy, an interest in concussion, and you thrive on taking the initiative and working as part of an interdisciplinary team helping patients return to doing the things they love most, we'd love to hear from you
About the Role:
You'll play a vital role in helping patients recover from musculoskeletal injuries and conditions with a varied case load that will include patients who have suffered a concussion. You'll be responsible for providing thorough assessments and effective treatments as part of a supportive, inter-disciplinary team. This is a wonderful opportunity for a committed individual who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and working alongside others to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients.
What you'll be doing:
- Expert Physiotherapy Care – Provide treatments for musculoskeletal injuries, including concussion management, assessing need, improving function and prescribing and guiding patients through individualised rehabilitation plans.
- Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration – Actively participate in concussion IDT meetings and seek support (where required) to ensure coordinated care for all patients.
- Testing & Procedures – Conduct Neuroflex testing, exercise treadmill testing, and shockwave therapy.
- Clear & Timely Communication – Maintain strong relationships with clinical colleagues, referrers, and external partners as well as ensuring patients feel supported with a clear understanding of what comes next in their rehabilitation journey.
What we're looking for:
- Humility – you're a true team player who likes to help others and understands that a rising tide lifts all boats.
- Hungry – you'll use your initiative to ask good questions and will put in the discretionary effort to figure things out either on your own or with the support of your team members. We will guide and empower you; we will not spoon feed you. You like to learn new things and push outside your comfort zone … you may not be an expert (YET).
- Smart – yes, we know you've got degree(s), but can you read and connect with people? We need your EQ as much, if not more than, your IQ.
- Stellar communication skills – you'll need them to chat with patients, whanau, and our broader healthcare team.
- A good sense of humour – because we believe in having fun at work.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the regulatory/contractual environment, the needs of our patients and team – flexibility is key and asking questions to seek clarity is encouraged
- Experience and passion for working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team. We're proud to do things differently—rather than working in isolation, we actively seek input from colleagues and experts. Our patient outcomes speak for themselves, showcasing the success of this approach.
- Proven expertise in assessing and addressing the causes, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries.
- Interest in the safe and effective use of physical activity in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and chronic diseases.
- NZ registered physiotherapist with a current, valid APC.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience preferred – applications from candidates at all levels are welcome
What's in it for you:
At Axis we are committed to providing a supportive and enriching work environment for our team members. Some of the key benefits include:
- Working alongside motivated clinicians and patients in a dynamic team environment.
- Employment and contracting engagement options.
- Tailored start/finish times to fit your lifestyle.
- Competitive package.
- Access to fortnightly internal training in varied forms such as case reviews, journal club, supervision, radiology and 'special geezer' sessions.
- Individual training fund for further education and professional development.*
- Quarterly Axis Days for team training and connection.
- A clinic treat drawer – for those afternoon pick me ups
- Shared lunches & team celebrations.
- An annual pair of ASICS shoes to hit the trails.
- Birthday leave.*
* Applies to employees only.
About us:
Axis is a healthcare business offering specialist, collaborative health and rehabilitation services across 7 interdisciplinary clinics in Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown.
While we are nominally a sports medicine clinic, the majority of our patients are not elite athletes and come from a wide range of backgrounds. We apply sport and exercise principles to the management of all our patients, whether they are recreational athletes, manual workers or those with chronic diseases simply wanting to safely increase or return to their pre-injury activity levels.
We are passionate about delivering gold standard, evidence-based interdisciplinary health care to help active Kiwis bounce back better to doing the things they love.
