About the role

  • Join a dynamic small nursing team and broader clinical team who are committed to improving the care of patients with diabetes disease.
  • Facets of this role include direct patient assessment, clinical consultations, formal and informal teaching, participating in quality programs, and leadership.
  • Provide specialist nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery and supporting other staff in the management of Endocrinology patients/consumer groups/area of practice.
  • Collaborate across the organisation within the specialty acting in the roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent, and care coordinator/case manager.

  • This role provides specialist nursing care and is working towards a Nurse Practitioner Pathway in Diabetes Specialty.
  • The Diabetes CNS/NP Candidate should acquire an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills, and clinical competencies to prepare for extended practice within a specialty area of practice/population group.

About you

  • Strong team focus who is able to work autonomously and has a visionary outlook.
  • Flexibility is an important component of the role, alongside the ability to self-monitor and maintain therapeutic boundaries.
  • Extensive post-registration experience, preferably in endocrinology.
  • There is an expectation that postgraduate qualifications with a minimum of a diploma will have been undertaken or a willingness to develop their advanced practice to achieve this.

Salary range

This role belongs to the expired NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between the step 1 ($116,040 p.a) and Step 3 ($127,674 p.a prorata) of the Designated Senior Nurse scale Grade 2.
