Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand Auckland Council Full time

You will be the frontline in protecting our environment and community. This field-based role provides a multi-disciplinary compliance response service covering investigations, resolutions of breaches, remediation activities and enforcement action in relation to Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. Your skills in assessing situations and advising customers to help them achieve compliance are key to creating positive outcomes for Auckland. This role may involve working after hours from time to time.

This is a fixed term full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with on-call work as required. Area is North Auckland and office in Albany.

Being the 'face' of Auckland Council in many situations, your professionalism and ability to mediate, negotiate and diffuse conflict should be second to none. Verbal and written communication skills are key to these roles. As there is a lot of interaction, you will also need to have highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and deal with a range of people. A natural problem solver, you will demonstrate the ability to understand what is required to build relationships and resolve conflict through negotiation.

This would suit individuals with building, compliance, law enforcement or investigation experience. You are a strong team player, able to demonstrate a solid understanding of relevant legislation as well as the ability to effectively translate requirements to customers.

Auckland Council is the largest local government council across Oceania, serving over 1.7 million people and contributing towards making Tāmaki Makaurau an Auckland we can all be proud of.
