About the Role

We have a great opportunity for a senior registered nurse with strong leadership and advanced nursing skills to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. The HPB CNS role is an advanced nursing practice role that encompasses responsibility and coordination of nursing care to this patient group across health care settings both locally and regionally.

You will deliver professional and clinical leadership, patient care coordination, education, and clinical teaching to patients, whanau, and staff. The role covers primary, secondary, and tertiary care of complex patients.

Your primary role will be to provide care coordination and to ensure patients receive timely interventions. You will act as a point of contact for patients and the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will support patients, whanau, nursing, and medical staff on the wards; refer to the multi-disciplinary team, organize family meetings as required; assist with discharge planning and communicate plans to patients, whanau, team, and local DHBs.

To ensure success in the role, you will need to have an extensive surgical nursing background and be practicing at a senior level, preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in specialty nursing practice.

You will be joining a supportive senior nursing team who are committed to effective/evidence-based nursing practice. You will also have the opportunity to work autonomously.

This is a Monday to Friday opportunity working 40 hours per week, based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland.

About You

The successful applicant will have extensive general surgical nursing experience and be practicing at a senior level, preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in specialty nursing practice.

It is essential that you meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least 3-5 years post-graduate experience preferably in General Surgical/Trauma
  • Interact effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and service members
  • Maintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledge
  • Have excellent supervisory, communication, and problem-solving skills in order to relate to and work with staff and patients at all levels.
  • Have NZ nursing registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
