About the Role

We're excited to offer a rare and highly sought-after opportunity for a residential Medical Imaging Technologist to train in MRI. This full-time trainee position will commence as soon as possible and includes both academic and practical training components. You'll attend a remote training facility for formal tuition while also receiving hands-on experience in our department, guided by a team of six experienced MRI technologists.

Our service is equipped with a 1.5T Siemens Altea, and while your focus will be MRI, occasional work in general X-ray may be required post-qualification. We're looking for someone who brings strong communication skills, a commitment to high standards of patient care, and a genuine passion for MRI. To succeed in this role, you'll need to be highly organised, demonstrate the ability to balance academic and clinical demands, and consistently reflect the values of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki in your everyday work.

About the Service

Health New Zealand| Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services, and we're growing our inpatient physical health rehabilitation team by 60%. You will be joining a friendly team that is diverse in skills and experience, a team that welcomes collaboration and values the contribution of each team member. Our team provides rehabilitation care across acute and non-acute inpatient wards as part of Allied Health, and we're happy to support other teams to ensure their success.

About you

As a Trainee MRI Medical Imaging Technologist, you will be a current Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora employee is a Medical Imaging Technologist who has:

  • National diploma or degree in Medical Diagnostic Imaging or recognised New Zealand equivalent.
  • Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) in the Diagnostic Imaging: General scope of practice and the MRI scope of practice issued by the NZ MRTB.
  • Registered with tertiary centre for approved NZ MRTB MRI postgraduate course.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
