New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand TBI Health Group New Zealand Full time

TBI Health was created with a simple idea: to help people with pain, illness, or injury. TBI Health has come a long way since it began its journey in 2001, and since 2016 we have partnered with Southern Cross to ensure our clients get the right help at the right time, enabling them to live meaningful lives.

Job Description

About the mahi (role)

Are you an experienced vocational clinician or looking to develop your skills in the vocational area? Then we want to hear from you

We have an opening for an Occupational Therapist to join our busy Taranaki team. We currently have a team of OTs working on a range of ACC contracts. With a mix of work, we are keen to bring on someone to support mainly with our vocational contracts, both private and ACC. There is opportunity to grow in areas of interest as we hold several assessment contracts as well.

We cover the greater Taranaki region and have a satellite clinic in Hawera. You will be working with a range of professionals across our multidisciplinary team, which includes physiotherapists, exercise therapists, hand therapists, pain specialists, psychologists, dieticians, and clinical pharmacists.

With extensive training and mentoring depending on experience, the successful candidate will be required to provide a wide variety of different Well At Work services within the Taranaki region, particularly working with key businesses to assist in the prevention and management of pain, discomfort, and injury in their workplaces.

You will be able to manage your diary autonomously to help achieve a good work/life balance. Work will be from the New Plymouth Clinic, a variety of employers, and within the community. You will have the flexibility to work from home from time to time.

The role will include:

  • Completing workplace assessments for return to work following illness or injury.
  • Providing patient education, training, treatment, and rehabilitation in a variety of community and workplace settings.
  • Liaising with external partners such as specialists, general practitioners, and employers to ensure smooth rehabilitation for the client.
  • You will have the flexibility to complete administration and documentation tasks from home.

In this role, you will be supported by the Clinic Manager and will be a key member of our strong team. We are a close-knit and hard-working group who enjoy regular social events and have a passion for the outdoors.

Benefits of joining TBI Health

The TBI Health New Plymouth team is a multi-skilled team with experienced physiotherapists, psychologists, orthopaedic surgeons, hand therapists, and many more.

For your shared passion and commitment to TBI Health and its goals, we have the following on offer for you:

  • Competitive Salary + Bonuses + Mobile + Vehicle
  • APC, Professional Membership, and Indemnity Insurance are reimbursed
  • Inclusive culture which embraces and celebrates diversity of its people
  • Subsidised health insurance with Southern Cross Insurance (working 20 or more hours)
  • Annual contribution to your career development and further qualifications
  • There is opportunity to grow into supervision, training, quality, or management roles.
  • Regular in-house training available.
  • Attend several training sessions during the year focused on teaching how to incorporate Māori tikanga in your role appropriately.
  • Birthday leave (must be employed 20 or more hours to qualify).
  • Annual Wellbeing Allowance - currently valued at $250 if you are employed for 20 hours or more per week or $100 for employees who work under 20 hours per week.
Desired Skills and Experience

About you

The applicant requires a minimum of 2 years clinical experience. A post-graduate qualification in the occupational health/vocational rehabilitation field would be an advantage to the applicant; however, it is not essential. It is expected that the successful applicant would be willing to work towards a post-graduate qualification.

Substantial orientation, training, and support will be provided.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A genuine interest in the area of vocational rehabilitation.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • A desire to achieve clinical excellence.
  • Very good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage your time and workload efficiently.
  • An ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to professional development.
  • A current practicing certificate to work in New Zealand, Full Professional Body Membership, and Full Indemnity Insurance.
