About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to work in the community supporting children and young people and their families that are referred through the paediatric service. The purpose of the role is to provide nursing care and interventions to support children and young people to be cared for at home or close to home. A component of the role is to support paediatricians work in the outpatient clinic environment, including satellite clinics across the region.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team of nurses provide specialist care to children, young people and their families at home or in outpatient clinics. Referrals are received from paediatricians, the paediatric ward, neonatal unit, emergency departments, and sometimes primary health care. It is a small service with three nurses working from New Plymouth and two nurses working from Hawera.
About You
This is a designated senior nurse position and is best suited to an experienced registered nurse with paediatric and or community nursing experience. The ability to be flexible is a pre-requisite as the role requires a degree of critical thinking. Due to being based in South Taranaki, there is less opportunity to work closely with paediatric nursing colleagues but there are opportunities to feel part of a bigger team by maintaining links with paediatric nurses based in North Taranaki through email, phone, MS teams meetings, and whole team meetings. You would also become part of a wider Health NZ team of staff working in a rural community, which has unique opportunities and challenges.
