Primary job requirements include but may not be limited to :
- Two years' minimum experience working in relevant clinical areas;
- Postgraduate education and training in Neuro-psychology required;
- Vocationally registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board as a Psychologist with clinical scope;
- Excellent team-oriented communication, treatment, testing, diagnoses, and treatment skills applicable to treating neurological disorders and related injuries;
- Able and willing to commit at least two years or longer;
- Has existing NZ work authorisation or meets all requirements for a work visa;
- Excellent report writing and neuro-psychological assessment, behaviour management expertise;
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging work environment as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team;
- Experience in working in a Whanau or extended family setting assisting clients and their loved ones in emotionally adjusting to challenges presented by their family members receiving treatment;
- Able and willing to work in an intensive, inpatient setting;
- Able to mentor less senior members of the team while sharing knowledge to assist in leading improvements to clinical practices;
- Interested in participating in research opportunities;
- Passionate about working with clients and their families in a post-acute interdisciplinary environment;
- Embraces values of accountability, safety, partnership, integrity, respect, and delivering beyond expectations;
- Has a current and valid driver's license recognized by New Zealand.
Primary responsibilities include but may not be limited to :
- Be part of a specialist provider of intensive brain injury rehabilitation serving around 85% of New Zealand's population, achieving accreditation with CARF international;
- Engage in research projects requiring input from a therapeutic perspective;
- Assist clients in achieving maximum functioning and independence in daily living;
- Provide perspective from neuro-psychological background within an interdisciplinary team;
- Contribute to effective management of therapeutic services in line with agreed service policies and procedures;
- Participate in ongoing staff training and programs as requested;
- Engage in neuro-psychology research activities;
- Participate in continuous quality improvements through innovative thinking that streamlines clinical services;
- Comply with the Code of Ethics as defined by the New Zealand Psychological Society;
- Maintain ongoing education to keep competence in accordance with New Zealand Psychologists Board's guidelines;
- Undertake neuro-psychological assessments;
- Write comprehensive assessment reports conforming to ACC contractual requirements;
- Plan effective therapy and evaluate outcomes within a traumatic/acquired brain injury/neurological rehabilitation setting;
- Utilise evidence-based practices in rehabilitation decision-making;
- Work in a self-directed, flexible manner demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills;
- Collaborate effectively through open, clear, and honest communication with others;
- Assume an educative role within the interdisciplinary team and with clients and their families.
