Job Description

Stuff Digital is looking for a Editor - Money & Personal Finance to lead the agenda in this space across New Zealand's most influential content platform. This is an opportunity to shape the financial news landscape, delivering high-quality journalism that informs and engages our audience.

In this role, you will develop and execute a compelling content strategy that meets audience needs and supports Stuff's wider goals, including membership growth and digital revenue. You will be comfortable producing journalism in multiple formats, from text to video and audio, ensuring content reaches audiences however and whenever they prefer.

Collaboration will be key as you work across editorial, commercial, marketing, and product teams to drive content-driven commercial opportunities. You will also manage freelancers, oversee editorial projects from conception to completion, and maintain strong industry relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver a Money & Personal Finance content strategy that is audience-focused and aligned with Stuff's broader objectives.
  • Commission, produce, and edit high-quality financial journalism that breaks original stories and provides expert analysis.
  • Ensure effective use of multimedia storytelling techniques, leveraging digital platforms to maximise engagement.
  • Drive special editorial projects, investigations, and campaigns to produce impactful, agenda-setting journalism.
  • Monitor industry trends and audience insights to refine content strategies.
  • Work closely with social media, membership, and community engagement teams to expand reach and grow Stuff's audience.
  • Oversee content production across multiple platforms, ensuring accuracy, legal compliance, and ethical journalism standards.
  • Provide editorial leadership, mentoring and managing a high-performing team.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support revenue initiatives while maintaining editorial integrity.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement content strategies that grow and engage audiences.
  • Expertise in digital storytelling, including audio, video, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent editorial judgement, with a keen eye for original and impactful stories.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience mentoring and developing teams.
  • A commitment to upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity and ethics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build strong industry relationships.
  • Knowledge of media law and a solid grasp of audience analytics and insights.
