Grants Manager

Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Grants Manager in our Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

The Grants Manager position is responsible for supporting the Director of Sponsored Research and Strategic Partnerships in managing the grantmaking process within the university; including identifying potential funding opportunities, developing and submitting grant proposals, managing awarded grants, supporting financial reporting, tracking progress, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines, and reporting on outcomes, effectively working to secure and utilize grant funds to achieve organizational goals. This role ensures compliance with university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and private sector funding requirements. The Grants Manager will report to the Director of Sponsored Research and Strategic Partnerships and collaborate with faculty, researchers, and administrators to manage external funding for university projects and research initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of active grants, tracking progress against project goals and budget.
  • Monitor compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with the business office and other departments to track grant-funded activities and collect necessary data for reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of grant agreements.
  • Manage post-award grant activities, including the preparation of reports and documentation required by funding agencies.
  • Provide guidance and support to researchers and departments on financial and regulatory requirements related to the grant.
  • Support the accurate record-keeping of grant-related documentation, including proposal submissions, award agreements, and financial reports.
  • Assist faculty and researchers in the preparation of progress reports, final reports, and other documentation required by funding agencies.
  • Stay informed on new funding opportunities, trends in grant writing, and regulations affecting research funding.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of grant management processes and systems within the university.
  • Assist with internal data management and record keeping within the ORSP office.
  • Other contributions/ duties as needed to support the Director of Sponsored Research and Strategic Partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Public Administration, or Research Management).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, management, and administration in an academic or research environment.
  • Experience in project management and budget oversight.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and private sector grant requirements and compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state grant systems such as Grants.gov and NIH eRA Commons.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex deadlines and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of grant management software and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Salary Range:

$55,800 - $63,400 40-hour work week. Exact compensation based on candidate skills and experience.
