These are exciting times at ARAG Law as we are going through a period of positive change and sustained growth across our friendly and high-performing Employment Law department.

The department deals with all aspects of employment law, from advising an employee on pursuing an unfair dismissal claim, or a claim for unpaid wages, to defending claims of whistleblowing and discrimination on behalf of respondents. As well as acting for employees and employers during the litigation process, they also provide advisory HR services such as drafting contracts & policies or guiding and supporting businesses through the complexity of employment law requirements.

We now have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Employment Law department as an Associate, working in the Private Client team.

This will involve non-contentious work, such as advice on settlement agreement terms, drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements, contracts of employment and handbooks and policies. You'll also support with drafting and reviewing letters for employers and employees, advising on employment processes, assisting with ACAS EC and handling private litigation cases.

We drive a culture of effective and efficient case handling, so you'll ensure our customers always receive the highest standard of service, and you'll adhere to regulatory and company processes, whilst considering the cost aspects.

There is an established pipeline of work available, and this is a great opportunity to raise your individual and business profile. You can look forward to being part of a department that boasts a wealth of experience, unrivalled support and opportunities for you to grow and develop, which are actively encouraged.

This role can be full-time or part-time (4 days a week, or equivalent hours).

Minimum Requirements:
  1. Previous experience of contentious and non-contentious Employment Litigation work.
  2. Good working knowledge of Employment Law and procedures.
  3. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Experience of, or a strong desire to assist in business development.
  5. Ability to work under pressure and deliver against deadlines, KPI's and SLA's.
  6. Proactive approach to managing your own caseload to a very high standard.
  7. Clear and demonstrable understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct.
  8. Ability to work highly collaboratively, with excellent client care skills.
