About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Lead Process Technologist to manage and optimize our UHT Pilot Plant in Christchurch. In this role, you'll lead cutting-edge processing developments, scale up new product innovations, and drive technical excellence in dairy processing.
As a key player in our R&D team, you'll collaborate across functions to transform ideas into market-ready products—developing next-generation dairy solutions that meet both production efficiency and consumer expectations.
- R&D Pilot Plant Leadership: Oversee, manage, and operate the R&D UHT Pilot Plant, ensuring seamless execution of trials, preventative maintenance, GMP standards, and compliance with HACCP and Quality programs.
- Processing Innovation: Develop and refine cutting-edge processes, such as UHT treatment, powder hydration, homogenization, and membrane filtration, to enhance product performance.
- Scale-Up & Industrialization: Work closely with Product Development Technologists and site engineering teams to scale up pilot plant successes into full-scale production.
- Project Management: Lead multiple R&D processing projects, ensuring timely execution, technical excellence, and alignment with business goals.
- Strategic Impact: Develop a long-term, processing-driven technical strategy that integrates seamlessly into the product innovation pipeline.
About You
In order to make this role successful you will be an experienced processing engineering Technologist with a background in Chemical Engineering/Food Engineering/Processing Engineer, preferably with experience in the dairy industry.
Specifically, the skillsets and experience we're looking for, include:
- Dairy UHT Pilot Plant Management: Extensive experience in managing, leading, and hands-on operation of the UHT Pilot Plant.
- Processing Innovation: Expertise in driving innovation and development within UHT Pilot Plant and manufacturing environments.
- Project Management: Proven ability to plan, execute, and manage processing-focused projects effectively.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving: Exceptional skills in analysing challenges and implementing practical solutions.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate technical language and partner with stakeholders across our business.
- Product Formulation Expertise: Good understanding of product formulation and various dairy categories.
