About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Recovery Manager to establish and lead a new recovery function within our Claims team. This pivotal role will be responsible for creating and implementing recovery processes to maximise the recovery of claims costs from third parties, ensuring compliance with APRA, ASIC, and SCTI policies. You will lead the design and development of this function, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure integration with existing claims processes and deliver on both financial and customer experience goals.

Key responsibilities include developing a comprehensive recovery strategy, establishing strong relationships with external providers, and creating performance metrics and reporting systems. You will also lead a team of recovery specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Additionally, the Recovery Manager will collaborate closely with Claims, Legal, and Finance departments to optimise workflows, implement technology solutions, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance claims or recovery, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in establishing or significantly improving recovery functions.
  • Deep understanding of travel insurance products, claims processes, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices, tools, and technologies for claims recovery.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in change management.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and recovery management systems.
