This is an exceptional opportunity to join a fun, dynamic Directorate that supports the delivery of the New Zealand Budget. Joining our team will see you working in a caring and collaborative team environment, advancing your skills and career, while shaping a better tomorrow for all New Zealanders.
Mō mātou | About Us
At The Treasury Te Tai Ōhanga we're creating a better future for New Zealand and everyone who calls our amazing country home. We're the Government's economic and financial advisor, working hard to raise the standard of living for everyone in Aotearoa, now and in the future.
Our talented people bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to tackling New Zealand's biggest and most inter-connected issues. Every day, they are influencing, advising, and supporting Ministers, Crown CEOs and Government decision-makers to shape our country's collective tomorrow.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
We currently have a Team Assistant (TA) role available supporting the leaders of two teams in the Budget Directorate, as well as providing administrative support to these two teams. The production of the Government's annual Budget is core work for the Treasury, and the TA has a key role in "making the Budget happen".
As a TA it is your responsibility to provide exemplary administration, secretarial and coordination support to leaders and their teams to keep them running at full speed. This role would suit a talented TA who has lots of initiative and the ability to work at pace and prioritise effectively.
In the TA role, you will be able to handle instructions for processes not just tasks, and make good judgement-calls on what is required. You'll be a TA who is ahead of the curve when it comes to modern processes and practices and you will have a great ability to keep your Managers across the variety of work that is happening. You'll be a team player who enjoys working collaboratively, as you will be called upon to assist with the wider business-support network.
This TA role is Wellington-based. Given the nature of the work, it requires you to be in the office most days.
Your responsibilities will include
- Email, inbox and diary management.
- Coordinating meetings and liaising with stakeholders.
- Maintaining and updating reports, including document editing, formatting and printing.
- Developing and drafting a range of correspondence.
- Creating reports from databases.
- Taking minutes and following through on actions.
- Resource, finance (including invoice/payment), HR and travel administration.
- Leading and assisting event management as required, including logistics and programme scheduling.
Ō pūmanawa | About You
This important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done. We are committed to employing people, with a wide range of academic, cultural and social backgrounds and experiences, who represent the New Zealand community we serve. The specific experience, skills, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
- Demonstrated previous administrative experience.
- Highly organised, efficient with an eye for detail.
- A pro-active, can-do attitude, and looking to stretch your administrative capabilities.
- The ability to multi-task, re-prioritise and react to issues that arise during the day whilst keeping calm and professional.
- A strong customer focus, excellent communication/interpersonal skills. You are someone who enjoys building great relationships.
- Excellent IT skills and an experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite.
This is an important job and that's why we'll do all we can to support your success. Flexible work arrangements and five weeks annual leave, along with a range of other health and wellbeing initiatives, will help you enjoy a positive work/life balance. Our numerous social events, sports teams and employee networks will enable you to connect and have fun.
The wharenui, at the heart of our workplace, embodies our commitment to diversity and making this an inclusive place that will welcome the unique experiences and perspectives you bring to our collaborative team culture.
We'll prioritise your development, offering you opportunities to train and advance your chosen career. The work will stimulate and challenge you, helping you learn, grow and build valuable experience and skills.
