Technical Consultant This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

The Technical Consultant provides HPE and partner technology solutions to external customers and internal project teams. They are responsible for providing technical support and leadership in the design, delivery and handover of technology solutions designed to meet the customers' business needs. As a trusted advisor, they work to understand the customer's business requirements by creating and maintaining effective customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project delivery outcomes. We are looking for someone with a Storage or Platform background.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for discovery, designing and implementing customer project outcomes based on deliverables defined within a statement of work.
  • Responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions using industry products and technologies. Responsible for verifying and implementing the detailed technical design solution to the problem as identified by the Project/Technical Manager.
  • Analyses and develops enterprise technology solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Regularly leads in the technical assessment and delivery of Storage or Compute technical solutions to the customer..
  • Implementation of designs and data migrations for technology solutions in one of the following work domains: networks, storage, backup or compute infrastructure.
  • Provides advanced technical consulting and advice to others on proposal solution design, effort, system management, tuning and modification of solutions.
  • Adheres to and provides ongoing input to the company strategy as it relates to the consulting group.
  • Collects and manipulates data from appropriate sources to assist in determining specific customer needs and requirements.
  • Responds to requests for technical information and advice from customers.
  • Engages in technical problem solving across multiple technologies; often needs to develop new methods and processes to apply to the situation.
  • Owns and manages knowledge sharing within a job family community (e.g. team, practice, or project). Ensures team members support knowledge sharing and re-use requirements of project.
  • Proactively encourages membership and contributions of others to professional community and coaches others in area of expertise. Supports sales activities by providing technical solution qualification and review.
  • Actively grows the company portfolio with existing customers through new opportunities and change management.

About You:

  • New Zealand Citizens preferred as the ability to obtain a security clearance is ideal.
  • Strong background and knowledge of HPE Storage and Compute product offerings.
  • A demonstrated ability to suggest multiple technology solutions to cater for specific customer IT infrastructure needs.
  • Must be proficient with TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Respondent would be expected to be proficient in (or had exposure to) a number of technologies, including HPE Storage solutions, VMware, Qumulo, Veeam, Commvault, Alletra, SimpliVity, SAN, iSCSI
  • Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to design and scope multiple deliverables across HPE technologies.
  • Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has previously demonstrated innovation and communication of infrastructure design, implementation and migration deliverables and offerings.
  • Ability to develop solutions that enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of a particular customer's enterprise.
  • Able to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently.
  • Ability to work in a multi- technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause. In addition to troubleshooting skills and consulting skills, has ability to summarise prognosis and impact at practice lead level. Ability to adapt a consulting style appropriate to the situation and can identify up-sell opportunities.
  • Be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of industry area market dynamics, commercial issues, and technical concerns whilst maintaining depth in core focus area.
  • Ability to present within own area of expertise as part of a customer design workshops. Has demonstrated ability to lead others in the gathering of requirements, designs, plans and estimates.
  • Able to contribute all technical detail to proposals for smaller engagements within own area of expertise.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge in other technical areas in order to properly manage complex integration efforts.
  • Demonstrates application of technical expertise in successful engagements involving multiple disciplines.
  • Able to independently complete infrastructure solution design and implementation deliverables.
  • Able to manage a team of consultants in the completion of one or more solution requirements, architecture, or implementation deliverables.
