Senior Electrical Design Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you play a crucial role in the development and implementation of electrical systems and components within various projects. Your responsibilities typically involve overseeing the entire electrical design process, from concept to completion. Here's an overview of the key tasks and skills associated with this role:

Key Responsibilities

  1. System Design: Lead the design of electrical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  2. Project Management: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall project goals.
  3. Schematic Design: Create detailed schematics and diagrams using computer-aided design (CAD) tools to illustrate the layout and connections of electrical components.
  4. Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes to validate designs, conduct testing, and troubleshoot issues to ensure the reliability and functionality of electrical systems.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, such as safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure the successful integration of electrical systems.
  7. Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, reports, and manuals, to assist with the manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to incorporate improvements into design processes.

  9. Electrical Design Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in electrical system design with a focus on baggage and materials handling projects.
  10. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering: A degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
  11. Technical Competence: Possess a strong working knowledge of EPlan or AutoCAD, PLC Programming packages (preferably Rockwell, Omron, and Siemens), and SCADA packages (preferably Iconix or Ifix).
  12. Project Experience: Demonstrate experience in Electrical and Controls design, preferably within Baggage or Material Handling Systems.

    Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with AS/NZ3000 or equivalent international wiring standards and regulations is essential.
