Masterton has a population of about 21,000 and is about 100 kilometres from Wellington. There are train services between Masterton and Wellington, making daily travel easy. Wellington International Airport is also close to Masterton. There are also regular ferry services to the South Island. The Wairarapa region is known for its beautiful beaches, wild rivers and high mountains. The region is also known for its many vineyards that produce high quality wine.
The function is offered by a large hospital with a patient population of over 50,000. They provide 24-hour care, both acute and curative, in all departments. They also have operating theatres for surgery, anaesthesia, orthopaedics, urology and gynaecology. They work closely with a nearby hospital and a private clinic.
On behalf of the above hospital, we are looking for a general surgeon for a full-time position. The minimum period is 12 months, but they both offer longer-term contracts. They also support in finding accommodation and have opportunities for your family members.
The suitable candidate will join the team of 3 general surgeons, where you will be the 4th. Together, you will provide care to the region and work closely with a nearby hospital. Exchanges sometimes take place between these 2 hospitals when each other's expertise is needed. This hospital provides private surgical care, so they sometimes need your expertise as a general surgeon there.

Furthermore, there is a lot of cooperation between the departments, where your experience and expertise as a general surgeon can be put to good use.

To keep quality as high as possible, this cooperation is important and there is the freedom to complement or improve each other.

They also test this through peer reviews and audits.
To apply, you must be able to register yourself with the New Zealand Medical Council. For this, you must speak good English.

In addition, they are looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience, in the of area of general medicine.

You must also have previous experience in colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Besides working normal shifts, they work on a 1:4 on-call schedule, as then each general surgeon works for the same amount of time on an on-call basis.
