About the role


The Networks Development team ensures we have fit for purpose network technology solutions which support the realisation of our strategic objectives and enable 'Our Business'.

Responsible for maintaining and producing designs, product roadmaps and strategies for NZ Police's Network Security Infrastructure.


Reporting to the Development Manager - Networks and Telephony, you will be providing a range of solution design services to support and enable our business partners from across the organisation.


NZ Police is about to embark on a programme to strength our security infrastructure, investigating and investing in SDWAN, SASE and SDN technologies.

You will be instrumental in ensuring these technologies are designed and implemented to meet our requirements and enable our business securely.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Championing Network Architecture and design practices, focusing on infrastructure security solutions
  • Contributing to a strong team culture.
  • Being a credible leader and expert advisor that will align the efforts of the Network Development team to assist in the delivery by:
  • Delivering effective Solution Network Security Architecture through impact assessments, options analysis, high level design and assurance activities which help inform our decision-making processes.
  • Contributing to our Strategic Network Architecture through the development of component models, roadmaps, blueprints standards and roadmaps.
  • Collaborating with Service Providers and Network Operations team, managing equipment purchases, network expansion and complex fault support.
  • Engaging with Project managers to ensure the right technical network solution is included

You will have proven network design and architecture experience and a structured approach to planning and delivery. You will be capable of effectively communicating with all levels including business stakeholders, architects, operational staff and vendors.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum of ten years design experience in Network Security infrastructure solutions.
  • Have a current or expired industry certifications in designing security infrastructure solutions
  • Experience in designing and deploying Cloud connectivity solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Good interpersonal skills with a collaborative working approach
