Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity


We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Biomedical Technician to join our team at Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury.

As a Biomedical Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing expert services in the repair, maintenance, engraving, and manufacturing of clinical equipment.

Additionally, you will be involved in assisting in the design, development, construction, and maintenance of special medical and scientific instruments and devices for clinical departments within Waitaha Canterbury and other customers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repair, maintenance, engraving, and manufacturing of clinical equipment.
  • Assist in the design, development, construction, and maintenance of medical and scientific instruments and devices.
  • Laser engrave clinical equipment for asset tracking purposes.
  • Participate in the Quality Management System.

  • Essential:_
  • Experience in a broad range of technical work.
  • Demonstrable technical skills/ability and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good health, good eyesight, and manual dexterity.
  • Patient and meticulous with attention to detail and good concentration skills.
  • Enthusiastic, dedicated, and interested in the area of work.
  • Prepared to learn and develop, and attend relevant training courses as necessary.
  • Familiarity with computers and computerbased equipment.
  • Desirable:_
  • Considerable experience in precision working in stainless steel and a range of other materials.
  • Laser engraving knowledge and experience.
  • Conversant with AutoCAD Inventor.
