The role and opportunity

  • Specific research experience with mammalian hair fibre analysis or analogous fibrousproteinbased materials would be an advantage.

This is a full-time, fixed term position from 3 April September 2023.

What you will be doing

  • Laboratory benchwork in coordination with other scientists and technicians
  • Preparation of samples for various electron microscopy techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, electron tomography).
  • Assistance in daytoday maintenance and troubleshooting of electron microscopy methods and instrumentation.
  • Analysing images and other data using software such as Cellsens, ImageJ etc.
  • Contributing to funding proposals and peerreviewed publications

Your ideal background

  • Ph.
D. or Masters' degree in a biological, biomedical, or biotechnological field

  • Significant practical expertise in electron and/or microscopy and biological structure
  • Proven track record in a relevant science area (preferably mammalian hair fibre structure/biology and/or microscopy/ultrastructural analysis)
  • Peerreviewed publication record
  • Evidence of innovative use of instrumentation and analytical software (e.g., image analysis, bioinformatics)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
