  • Pre-Construction and Construction
  • Lean construction approach

The Construction and Innovation Group supports Kāinga Ora to grow its public and supported housing portfolio through the design and development of high quality homes that meet the needs of the community now and in the future, and by driving innovation across the construction sector.

Project Velocity is an exciting project, initially setup by Construction and Innovation, which has used manufacturing and business improvement techniques to design a new Housing Delivery System (HDS) to speed up processes, improve consistency, control and transparency.

New ways of working are being trialled that aim to remove duplication, reduce waste and increase building capacity.

The Housing Delivery System (HDS) developed by Project Velocity uses smaller, integrated and co-located teams that undertake all the tasks associated with public housing delivery.

This is an exciting work environment, with the HDS concept relying on people being co-located together and working together in Mini Business Units (MBUs).
