We are keen to talk to a passionate Merchandise Planner who loves what they do, and can offer impactful leadership to their team. You will be joining a well established and highly regarded Commercial Planning team, and we are looking for a candidate to unlock the potential in our Apparel and Footwear area.

Job Description

The Commercial Planning Chapter Lead role is pivotal in ensuring our assortments meet both our strategic commercial goals and our customer needs. Sitting within the Planning Chapter (and reporting into the Domain Chapter Lead), your time will be split between driving better commercial outcomes for the business and people management.

With strong financial acumen, assortment building skills and a real commercial mindset, you'll work collaboratively to drive optimisation and manage the product lifecycle process, while consistently staying on top of trends and performance. People leadership will be at the heart of what you do - developing, supporting, nurturing, and empowering the team to perform and be at their very best. The people management aspects of this role will see you facilitate capability growth, consistency of process and allocation of resources within your chapter.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of commercial planning professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovative thinking and problem solving.
  • Aggregation of commercial plans and strategies
  • Working with the Buyers on range assortment plans, controlling markdowns and category spend
  • Setting budgets and reviewing forward plans
  • Analysing product performance trends and making recommendations for improvement
  • Reporting and planning - providing effective financial, forecasting and stock flow management reports
  • Promotional, Clearance and Markdown planning and optimisation
  • OTB Management
  • Facilitation of review meetings involving various levels of stakeholders
Qualifications

We will rely on your excellent communication and relationship management skills, as this role will see you work cross functionally and influence a range of stakeholders at all levels. Equally important is your ability to develop, empower and nurture your team to drive engagement and best practice. Your passion and drive to share knowledge and raise the bar will be infectious. Key skills include:

  • Merchandise planning experience with a track record of delivering results
  • Deep understanding of retail and range science including the mechanics of promotional and clearance markdown
  • Passion for people leadership and development
  • A pragmatic and resilient work style
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Decisiveness in decision making in the fast-pace, dynamic retail environment
  • This role is in our Apparel & Footwear category so experience is desired
