About the role
The Listener is an iconic brand in New Zealand journalism.

For over 80 years the magazine has informed and entertained New Zealander's across content pillars including politics, money, lifestyle, and reviews.

After our recent launch of , an innovative digital platform that extends The Listener brand online and achieve reach and influence at significant scale, we are now looking for a digital editor to lead this exciting next step forward and continue to drive the evolution of content for both our existing readers our new digital audience.


The role will be responsible for strategic content planning for the new site, along with commissioning articles for publication and curating archive and print content to feature online, along with a responsive daily content & commentary schedule.

You will work with stakeholders including internally within The Listener editorial team and our digital team, along with external stakeholders including contributors columnists and other partners involved in the digital platform.

This role is integral in the future strategy of Are Media and The Listener and provides exciting opportunity to be involved in a digital transformation of an iconic publication.


Duties

  • Long term strategic content planning for to reinforce the thoughtleadership position of the brand
  • Writing, subbing & commissioning of content exclusively for publication on
  • Curation of content from The Listener magazine and archives for publication on
  • Achieving audience and subscriber KPI's
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders and represent The Listener brand in market.

Skills and experience

  • At least 5 years experience in either digital media, journalism, or related field.
  • A passion for journalism and telling stories that matter to New Zealander's.
  • News or current affairs reporting experience preferred.
  • Technical CMS capabilities for webbased publishing.
