About the Role

We're seeking an Analyst - Kaitātari to join our Relationship Support Data team.

The team turns data and information into valuable insights which are used to support our engagement with tertiary education organisations, employers, and communities.

You will be the link between the data and the customer facing teams, developing, and utilising our extensive data sets to produce meaningful insights that improve outcomes of the tertiary education sector.


  • Responding to data queries (both internal and external), including Ministerial and Official Information Act correspondence.
  • Drawing on your analytical skills to translate data into accessible plain English.
  • Supporting TEC's funding and investment planning processes.
  • Using your judgment and analytical skills to identify when something does not look quite right and may need more investigation.
  • Working across the business, building your networks, collaborating, and working as a supportive team member.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum one year experience in a data focussed analysis role.
  • An inquisitive mind set and passion for customer engagement.
  • Intermediate Excel data analysis skills and experience in using the Microsoft suite of tools is essential. SQL is preferred.
  • An ability to work with and combine multiple data sets and experience using data visualisation tools.
  • An ability to form and maintain successful working relationships within and across teams.
  • An ability to work in a high pressured, and sometimes ambiguous environment.


You will also need to be inquisitive and passionate about using data to understand our customers and to ensure we make the best possible investment decisions.
