We're looking for a Sawmill Engineer to maintain and repair the machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Repairs and Maintenance.
  • Keeping the plant and equipment fully operational.
  • Working with the other maintenance engineers, contractors, management, and staff on the site to carry out work as required.
  • Attending to breakdowns and getting equipment up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Taking a pragmatic approach to dealing with a task and evaluating the cost versus downtime and longterm outcome.
  • Reviewing and improving the current preventative maintenance plan.
  • Organising the workshop tools and equipment as required.
  • Maintaining a pragmatic and well considered approach to health and safety, including risk assessment before starting a task.
  • Discipline in the use of lock out tags and hot work permits.
  • A safetyfirst culture.
  • Having a good level of cooperation and communication with other workers, department managers and suppliers.
  • Keeping focused and maintaining a professional approach when under pressure.
  • Always acting with honesty and integrity
You must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Christchurch, Canterbury: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
