The opportunity


Ngā Pātaka Kōrero o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Libraries) have a strong community focus and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland.

Our Library & Council Service Assistant play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Manurewa local board, provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.


No two days are the same, you will greet and assist customers with a variety of queries from assisting customers to access library & council services, supporting with the delivery of programmes and events, digital troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, and general computer queries.


Many of our libraries are open 7 days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends and late nights, is required.

We are looking for 3 people for permanent part time and 1 full time opportunities.

These roles will require you to be flexible to work across all library services within the local board, which include Te Pātaka Kōrero O Waimāhia (Clendon), Te Pātaka Kōrero O Manurewa Library, Nathan Homestead Arts Facility, and Community Broker.


Work hours available below:

  • 1 x 20 hours per week Waimaahia
  • 1 x 24 hours per week Waimaahia
  • 1 x 40 hours per week Waimaha
  • 1 x 32 hours per week Manurewa

  • Be willing to help create a whānau environment where everyone works together to achieve team goals
  • Enjoy working with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds
  • Be a quick learner who would be able to assist people with technology queries
  • Love working with tamariki and can assist with programmes
