Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

We are looking for an Early Intervention teacher to work with a local team of educators to provide services and supports with the education sector in Tararua.

You will join a team of passionate educators who with you will create a bespoke service model that meets the needs of this rural community.

This is a unique opportunity to be a key professional in developing a new tailored service.

You will be supported by a Manager of Integrated Services, and the integrated team which includes learning support and education professionals based in Tararua, Wairarapa and Upper Hutt, a network of other early intervention teachers and by our Wellington region practice team.

Support to complete post graduate qualifications in Early Intervention may be available.

Mōhou ake | About you

To be successful you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).
  • A postgraduate Diploma in

Specialist Teaching:
Early Intervention or the ability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position.

  • A minimum of three years teaching experience and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
  • An understanding of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for daily functioning in family life and for teaching and learning in the context of early childhood and family homes.
  • The ability to develop and interact effectively with people of other cultures focusing on relationships and recognising their identity, language, and culture as a source of strength.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with ākonga | learners, whānau | families and kaiako | teachers across a diverse range of settings.
  • A full driver's licence.
